Policy Checker: Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Policy Checker is a Chrome extension that shows you a privacy summary for whatever website you are currently visiting. This page describes exactly what the extension does with your data.
What the extension reads
-
The domain of the tab you are currently viewing
(for example,
example.com), only when you click the extension icon. The extension does not read the full URL, page contents, form inputs, cookies, or anything else.
What the extension sends
-
The domain is sent to our analysis server at
terms-vzh0.onrender.comover HTTPS so we can return the saved privacy analysis for that site. - If you press the Request Analysis button on a site we have not yet covered, that domain is added to our analysis queue. No other information is included.
What we store
- On our server: the list of domains that have been requested or analyzed, and the public privacy-policy text we fetched for each. We do not store your IP, account, browsing history, or any identifier that ties a request to you.
- In the extension itself: a short-lived in-memory cache (session storage) of recent analyses, so opening the popup on the same site twice does not re-hit the server. This cache is cleared when Chrome closes.
What we do not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection.
- No cookies set by the extension.
- No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of data with anyone.
- No remote code: the extension ships with all its code bundled.
Permissions, explained
-
activeTablets the extension read the domain of the tab you are on when you click the icon. Without this, the extension cannot know which site to look up. -
